Principal's Welcome

Welcome! It is my pleasure to introduce you to Macclesfield Primary School.

A small, rural school catering for Reception to Year 6 students, Macclesfield Primary School is situated 45 km from Adelaide in the Mt Lofty Ranges close to the larger towns of Mount Barker and Strathalbyn.

The core values of the school are respect, responsibility, success, safety and caring. Combining these with the Positive Education ensures that our children have fun in a positive, caring and safe learning environment.

We are committed to improving our students’ learning outcomes in literacy, numeracy and science.

Our school NAPLAN results in spelling, reading, writing and numeracy have demonstrated improvement over the past couple of years and show that our students are recording results above the Australian average. We continue to strive for improvement.

We have a strong focus on community, participating and encouraging involvement in a wide range of community activities such as ANZAC and Remembrance days, Fringe events, Carols in the Square, Bush Care and town sports.

Our children are involved in a variety of environmental activities including Water Watch, Weed Warriors, and recycling.

Our children are involved in a wide range of extra-curricular activities such as SAPSASA Sports and the Festival of Music Choir program.

The school currently consists of three classes with the junior class housed in the new Early Learning Centre. All classes have interactive whiteboards and up to six networked, web-linked curriculum computers.

The school has a well-equipped gym, a Stephanie Alexander kitchen and garden, a computer suite, large, shaded play areas and an adjacent bush block in which many of our environmental activities are undertaken.

If you would like a tour of the school, please phone and arrange a time for me to take you around, show you the facilities and to discuss any queries you may have.

Regards

Wendy Silvestri
